When Allbirds launched in 2016, it gained traction as the buzziest new shoe brand for its comfortable designs married with eco-friendly and sustainable practices. It's a cult favorite through and through. The brand has since launched sneakers tailored more for workouts with its Tree Dashers and Runners, but today, it announced a collaboration with Adidas to create FUTURECRAFT.FOOTPRINT, a new running shoe created with 63 percent less emissions compared to other styles. And it also happens to look stylish and comfy, so that's just another bonus.

According to the press release, the design is based on Adidas' popular "Lightstrike" midsole. It's combined with Allbirds' signature sugarcane-based foam, creating a functional yet low-carbon style. In fact, the number on the sole refers to the super low carbon footprint produced to make each pair, which is 2.94 kg CO2e. The material is also made with 70 percent recycled polyester and 30 percent Tencel-made from wood pulp-and all these materials allow for a lightweight feel whether you're walking or running in them.

There's a caveat, though: The shoe is actually not available for purchase just yet, but 10,000 pairs will be available this December with a much wider distribution planned for 2022.

"Over the past year, our two teams have raced as one to create a shoe as close to zero carbon emissions as we could possibly achieve," Tim Brown, co-founder and co-CEO at Allbirds said in a press release. "The results are an exciting step forward, and hopefully, an example for others to follow." In the meantime, feel free to shop Allbird's other popular footwear below.
