Twenty-two-year-old Harley Viera-Newton is one of those here, there, everywhere girls who not only looks like she has it all but seems like she’s doing it all, too. In between finishing up her Egyptology studies this year at NYU and playing bass for indie singer-songwriter Lissy Trullie, the sometime model also proudly serves as house DJ for Dior Beauty, a post she was offered after putting in impressive turntable time at such New York City hot spots as the Beatrice Inn (RIP) and Lit.
With a mother who was a model and later a stylist for Valentino, it’s no wonder the hardworking multihyphenate has always had her own distinct approach to fashion. She wore a skintight Azzedine Alaïa dress to her high school prom and currently favors vintage Vivienne Westwood complemented by “lots of Tom Binns jewelry.” Recently, Viera- Newton had the chance to experience something she’d always dreamed of: Paris Fashion Week. Invited to the City of Light to DJ a Dior party celebrating makeup-artist-turned-photographer Tyen’s thirtieth anniversary working with the brand, Viera Newton—who likens the artist’s work to “extravagant paintings”—also managed to log some extra credit: a trip to Versailles. (“Best decision ever. I took a golf cart all around the grounds. It is the most beautiful place I’ve ever been.”)
