This was a good result for Hypnose, though, I thought. It's rare for my husband to make any comment at all on my makeup, so the fact that he'd noticed something different meant that the mascara must have done something out of the ordinary. Despite this, though, I have to say that although I like this mascara, I don't quite love it. Read on to find out why...
I tried: Lancome Hypnose Waterproof in black
The promise: Hypnose's main claim is that it will give your lashes volume without clumping, so you'll have thicker, more defined lashes.
Does it deliver? Given that "more volume" was one of the phrases my husband used when I was trying to prise the information out of him (I have him well trained. He recognises certain brands of cosmetics and everything), I'd say it does. This creates a fairly dramatic look - just the way I like it - and although I've been using it for a couple of weeks now, I've yet to observe any clumping, so it does what it says on the tin. The waterproof version I used also holds the curl in your lashes if you've used eyelash curlers before applying your mascara, and there's no flaking.
Any negatives: This is supposed to be a volumising mascara, and it does that superbly well. Personally, I like something that adds length as well as volume, so while I like Hypnose, I still prefer L'Extreme, which gives much more of a false lash effect. If you're looking for wearable drama, though, Hypnose could be a good one to go for.
Hypnose does take a little bit of getting used to, too. Although it doesn't clump on the lashes, the liquid itself is thicker and "gloopier" than most mascaras, which makes it more difficult to work with. Practice makes perfect, though, and once you've got the hang of it, you shouldn't have any problems.
