Leave it to Paris Fashion Week street style to make you want to add a geeky argyle sweater to your fall sweater rotation. This past week in the City of Light, street style stars aced autumnal fashion, stepping out in playful interpretations of prepster-inspired looks-with masks included, of course.

There was no shortage of pleated minis and sweater-vests, check print and houndstooth, as well as plenty of polished poplin shirt collars under sweaters and coats. Captured outside the shows by Acielle of Style du Monde, this season’s class of Paris Fashion Week street style stars taught us a lesson in how to combine geek chic with street smarts, just in time for fall.

-Heritage Prints-

You might associate a classic houndstooth blazer or argyle sweater with your grandfather’s closet. Although, this duo of heritage prints feels just right thanks to its punchy colored knits and addition of grungy accessories. Extra points for matching your hand sanitizer to your sweater.

-Flying Colors-

A chin-grazing turtleneck and blazer combo can lean on the stuffy side. However, when worn in a cheerful yet untraditional color combination, the pairing gives off a whole different vibe.

-No Dress Code-

There are no rules on footwear when it comes to uniform classics. Even a pair of controversial Crocs can be worn with a checked pleated midi, sweater vest, and button-up.

-Pleats That Please-

The pleated miniskirt is more versatile than you might think. The piece isn’t limited to just schoolgirl-inspired style—just look to Maisie Williams, who paired hers with a button-front leather jacket and mid-calf boots for proof.

-Old Sport-

Cricket-inspired attire meets Parisian street style when white tapered trousers and a sweater-vest are paired with minty metallic flat loafers and a striped button-up in the same hue.

-Caps Off-

Stay casual in a pair of derby lace-ups and a soft dad hat, or add a more put-together feel when paired with a camel coat and comfortable, relaxed slacks.
