We spoke with Kelly, 38, recently, just before the busy fashion guru was about to begin filming the sixth season with co-host Stacy London (which will air next spring, well, unless that writers' strike . . . ).
For more of their no-nonsense advice, check out their book, Dress Your Best - The Complete Guide to Finding the Style That's Right for Your Body (Three Rivers Press, $18.95).
What one or two pieces should a woman invest in to update her wardrobe this fall?
Shine is by far the biggest trend of the season. Something that's got some OTT [over the top] embellishment. . . . You can't go overboard this year.
Or something in patent, which is a really popular fabrication. You can do even a dress from last season with an opaque tight and patent shoe and a mock-croc bag.
Head-to-toe gray, when well done, can be super chic. Just make sure you're mixing up textures and patterns a little bit.
How do women look trendy over a ''certain age''?
Make sure you pair something trendy with something classic. A great way to look trendy is with some kind of amazing jacket. . . . You could do a trench coat with sheen,
with jeans or a classic black trouser or a pencil skirt. Buy a trench, then look for classic cuts in trendy patterns.
Seems everyone's telling women they're wearing the wrong bra size. How often should a woman get refitted?
Even 5 pounds can affect the bust area. If you have gained or lost 10 pounds, you've got to have a new bra fitting. Otherwise, once a year or once every couple of years. As your body changes, it's like a face lift for your silhouette.
What's the biggest fashion mistake men make?
They are incredibly boring dressers. American men wear two colors on bottom - navy or tan. And white or light blue on top. Not taking any chances is the biggest mistake American men make. And it's super important to have a good tailor. If you don't have fit, you don't have style.
Any chance you'll be putting your name on a clothing line?
There are talks going on right now about a clothing line - nothing's been signed, but check back soon.
    What's your ''fashion fantasy"?
I wish that every piece in my closet were custom-made, because I've had some custom-made shirts and suits, and there's nothing like it.
