We've been fashion-deprived, what with the writer's strike squashing the Golden Globes ceremony, and Fashion Week being rather tame (guess designers are bracing for the uncertain economy). But you can always count on rockers, rappers, and divas to, if nothing else, put on one heck of a show.

TakeAlicia Keys, wearing a sleek, stunning Armani halter ... but, uh, what's with the hair?

"I wanted to do this kind of mohawk thing," said Keys. (Props for trying something adventurous, but let's just say it's a good thing you're starting out so pretty.)

Others who looked sexy and sophisticated: Miley Cyrus (aka HannahMontana) in a sparkly mini from Celine, Natasha Bedingfield in purple Reem Acra; Carrie Underwood in a floral-print halter with rock-beaded waist from Zuhair Murad and Fergie in a sunshiny Calvin Klein strapless.

"This is by Duhamel," she said, referring to her engagement ring from actor/fiance Josh Duhamel.

Ladies who sing (and wear) the blues included Nellie Furtado (all draped and glam), the always-cute Corinne Bailey Rae (in big sequins), and Rihanna, who excelled in a Zac Posen number puffed with feather petticoat.

With four nominations and a genetic propensity for looking more and more likeHalle Berry every day (bummer, huh?), Rihanna sported a super-sexy new boycut, with long bangs off to one side.

"I love it, it's much easier for me - if anything, I may go shorter," she said.

This being the Grammys, guys were styling, too. Ne-Yo rocked it suave and studly in a slick gray Ferragamo suit with black shirt, tie, fedora. Will.I.Am, of Black Eyed Peas, wore what he called "Juicy Couture for dudes."Jay-Z sported an Armani tux. Seal wore an all-white YSL suit. And big daddy of them all, Tony Bennett - in tux and long tie - proved some things do get better with age.

Chris Brown put us in the mood for some Good Humor (c'mon, guy, that red and white tux is straight out of the ice cream truck).

Then there was Elijah Kelley, with his mix-and-match styleGucci tie, PF Flyers sneakers, and pants he said he just bought at Urban Outfitters yesterday. He tried a stylist once, he recalled.

"She brought everything I hated," he said, "so I figured, forget it. I'm gonna do it myself."

And, oh, how we love it when you do.
