Rapper Shawn Carter, better known as Jay-Z is expanding his business empire.
The
successful businessman will be collaborating with global prestige
beauty manufacturer, Elizabeth Arden to create his own line of
cosmetics. The line which will include cosmetic and beauty products as
well as male and female fragrances will launch alongside his popular
Rocawear brand. Rocawear was sold in March 2007 to Iconix Brand Group,
Inc. for a reported $204 million; Jay- Z still has a role in Rocawear
and is in charge of product development for the brand. Rocawear was
formed in 1995 by Jay- Z, Kareem “Biggs” Burke and Damon Dash.
This
move in this direction is not too surprising, given the success of
celebrity-inspired scents. Rapper Sean “P.Diddy” Combs has shown that
fragrances and rap sells.
