L.A. Fashion Awards winners

JUST when you thought this town's capacity for awards shows was busting at the seams, along came the L.A. Fashion Awards to address the city's fashion industry leaders and achievers. Now in its third year, the event at the Orpheum Theatre attracted everyone from past season reality-TV stars to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who gave the night's opening remarks.

Seven awards were handed out throughout the night. Unfortunately, as soon as winners were announced, some fellow nominees took the loss as their cue to cut out, prompting chipper hostess Debbie Matenopoulos of E! Entertainment Television to sarcastically say good night to those trying to sneak out.

They should have stayed; those who did were treated to nominee runway presentations. The 2007 L.A. Fashion Awards winners:

Marketing excellence: Guess by Marciano

Fashion retailer of the year: Fred Segal

Fashion communications: DailyCandy

L.A. Inspiration Award: "Project Runway"
