Championing established, industry-selected and student fashion designers, it celebrated the achievements of the fashion industry as a whole and saw the week’s festivities out in fabulous style.
As fashion’s A-listers took their seats in the gorgeous ballroom setting at the Perth Convention Centre, the nominees for student fashion designer of the year were itching with excitement backstage. Leanne Lim took out both runner up and winner of the contemporary evening wear category, and Alira Callaghan was awarded for her designs in the student ready-to-wear men’s wear division.
The designs were eclectic - with flowing sheer silks, bright green bell bottoms and tight-fitting minis.
The award for best costume design brought out all the “oooohs” and “aaahhhs”. The winner was Louisa Bannah with her eccentric vintage Indian creation which included a 180cm spear. Runner up was Renee Kristensen.
