The event, geared toward introducing the spring line to local fashionistas featured garden displays, beauty demonstrations and live mannequin modeling showcases throughout the mall.

"We've never had an event like this," said Isabel Rodriguez-Vera, area director of marketing and business development for La Plaza Mall. "We're really excited about all of things people will be able to see and enjoy here."

Based on the schedule of events and promotions, the Primavera event will compare to the malls grand re-opening back in 2000, Vera said.

Primavera kicked off Friday morning in front of Dillard's with a beauty demonstration by MAC. Makeup artists offered complimentary touch-ups and showed off the Heatherette line, new to the Dillard's counter.

Heatherette, a design house and fashion company created by Avante-garde designers Richie Rich and Traver Rains recently launched a makeup line exclusive to MAC.

The colors are vibrant, out-of-the-box and ready for a night out on the town.

Over at Macy's the Chanel counter welcomed customers to take a peek at the make up line's summer 2008 Collection. This season brings softer hues, a little more earthy tones, to the eyes.

The collection includes: five new bronzers, a waterproof eye pencil (Stylo Yeaux waterproof eyeliner ($26.50) in Vert Bronze (green bronze) and Espresso (dark brown); Glossimer Lip Gloss ($26) in Gazelle (praline pink), Pinup (frosted golden peach), and Seashell (soft, shimmery pink); Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow ($27.50) in Tigre (bronze), Nomade (pink rose), Khaki (khaki green), and Safari (stone brown) and Ombre D'Eau Fluid Eyeshadow ($30) in Atoll (golden sand).

Chanel artists will continue to offer beauty demos at both Macy's and Dillard's on Saturday.

Other cosmetic lines participating include Christian Dior, Lancome, Calvin Klein, Estee Lauder, Clinique among others.

Friday evening, models take to the cat walk for Macy's runway fashion event. The department store will give folks a glimpse of spring's freshest fashions.

On Saturday, Primavera continues with more live mannequin modeling, cosmetic sampling and fashion shows. An exclusive Dillard's fashion show begins at 2 p.m. showcasing spring looks available to La Plaza Mall.
