“It’s all based on childlike innocence—it’s as if a child got hold of a crayon and colored under their eyes with it,” says makeup artist Polly Osmond about the bright-eyed look she created for Nanette Lepore’s spring 2010 show. “Using the blue, I went right underneath the eye and on the inside rim as well. It’s a bit smudgy.”
To complement the bold turquoise eyeliner, Osmond chose an equally striking color for the lips and cheeks: orange. “During the makeup test with Nanette, there was a thank-you card hanging on her wall—on it was a drawing of a '60s-style model with huge blue-lined eyes, orange cheeks, and orange lips,” says Osmond about her inspiration for the color palette.
