From Scotland With Love will pair the work of designers including Deryck Walker, Aimee McWilliams and Scott Ramsay Kyle, with fabrics from established Scottish manufacturers such as Begg Scotland and Mackintosh.
The collective, which has been put together and part funded by Scottish Enterprise's textile branch, will enable 14 aspiring designers to showcase their work at London Fashion Week.
"It's been really good to be involved in
something like this," said designer Graeme Armour, who is paired with
Morton Young & Borland. "The garment I've created is a one-off show piece with a real
Scottish theme. I've also got my own collection, but this piece is
something a bit different from what I would normally do. "I really got on with the company when I visited them and the idea
is if you click with people then you will hopefully work with them and
use their fabric in the future." The From Scotland With Love collective includes aspiring Scots
designers such as Vidler & Nixon, Jamie Bruski Tetsill, Norreys,
Olanic and Rieko Fujihara. Many of the designers in the collective were
also nominated at the Scottish Fashion Awards, which took place in
September last year with The Herald as media partner. A showcase of their work will be shown in the Main Tent at London
Fashion Week, from February 10-13, and it is hoped pieces from each
designer will form part of a worldwide exhibition. From Scotland With Love also includes fabrics made by Scottish-based
brands such as Alexanders of Scotland, Barrie, Holland & Sherry and
Lochcarron of Scotland.
